About the Author: Alan Buick is a carpenter, musician and songwriter who came to Canada from his New Zealand birthplace 28 years ago. He has been unravelling the story of The Little Coat for several years, since he first noticed the coat hanging in the Royal Canadian Legion in Olds, Alberta, where he was performing one night with his wife Carol, the other half of the duo 'Diamond Country.' As he uncovered the story of the coat, Buick was moved to put pen to paper to create The Little Coat, his first book, in an effort to educate Canadians and others around the world about the horrific events, accomplishments, heroes and everyday characters of the Second World War. Alan Buick lives in Pense, Saskatchewan, with his wife Carol and their family.
This book is a tribute to all my wartime comrades. It also expresses my feelings for the people of the Netherlands who suffered so much under the Germans during the war years.
My gratitude for the young men who gave up their youth and their lives for the freedom of our country. I never, ever will forget.
